The week my husband and I spent at my aunt’s beach house in Connecticut was amazing for many reasons, not the least of which was the position of her little bungalow, just yards away from the ocean. With its pounding surf and ocean breezes all day and night, it was immensely soothing. But we also ate very well. The photo above shows the beginnings of a favorite new dish we came up with almost by accident, when we cooked up what we had on hand. Just sauté the best tomatoes you can find (these came from a local farmer’s market) with broccolini, scallions, fresh garlic, and white wine, plus salt and pepper to taste. It’s amazing. Below: A takeout shack called Lobster Landing, and a second cup of morning joe. All three meet our definition of “simple, but scrumptious.”
